To address climate change through local waste recycling in Kasese District
On 10/07/2017 Gift Women Link Foundation will collect wastes across Kasese district for 6 months. The waste will be recycled into eco-friendly products for 12 months. Participants will be trained how to recycle the collected waste (papers, CDs, metal wires, plastic bottles, bottles tops, polythene, vocado seeds, etc) into eco-friendly products.
The project will train and empower a group of 20 participants directly as trainer of trainees and 20000 Community members indirectly
These participants will be divided into 5 groups and deployed in different communities for sensitization and climate change awareness and training community members.
Mode of beneficiaries’ selection
The training focuses on women who poach firewood as their source of livelihood. The training will create a secure and safe income generating social enterprises for sustainable livelihood and sustainable environmental and climate change adaptation.
The project is a hands on practical doing. The beneficiaries will be guided on how to manipulate local dry waste (mainly plastic bottles, card boards, polythene, All stationery papers etc.). We are covering the waste with paper Mache. Once dry and harden we hand painting and decorating the items.
All waste and other items are locally available. All material used are chemical free and eco friendly
While being guided and trained into craft production we are building the group as a unite.
Conflict resolution, group rules, group shared leadership, craft marketing and craft pricing are some of the topics that will be discussed. The aim is to give the group a foundation to be able to reduce wastes hence environmental conservation.
After the training, once quality of product and finishing has reached a marketing level. Gift Women Link Foundation will establish /enter into marketing for products and funds will be saved and shared among unite and foundation as revolving fund.
Addressing Climate Change.
The training is based on the RRR (Reduce, Re – Use and Recycle) approach to address climate change. Due to global movements and chemical use around the globe, The training will produce chemical free products and this mean that all products have no negative impact on human beings and the environment.
The project is based on ZERO WASTE POLICY.
The foundation is flexible and welcomes Funds, physical Tools, Physical Foods, Days sponsorship, Monthly Giving and Full sponsorship in any way to let us implement successfully.
Our partners, Fundraisers, donors and well-wishers should come in for help and support to overcome the situation in Kasese Uganda hence achieving our mission.
